Here we are in 2013 with the internet at its finest. There are more and more job opportunities that are turning towards telecommuting. There are more businesses that are not only advertising online, they are using social media to boost their target audience. There are even hundreds of thousands of online businesses thriving in this virtual world.

Advertisers are getting smart now ladies. They are turning to our favorite bloggers and blogs to advertise their products for them in forms of product testing and blog posts!

Why Are Businesses Turning Towards Publishers?

Businesses are slowly starting to turn away from banners and pop-ups. Can you blame them though? With technology booming, pop-up blockers are now on every computer. When it comes to our smart phones that have tiny screens, businesses are having to pay for banner clicks that were clicked on accident.

On a lot of the free apps, there are banner advertisements and a lot of men (and women) are accidentally clicking on them trying to do something else. It could happen to anyone and when businesses added an ?are you sure you wanted to click on this?? page, the numbers were insanely low for the number of people who wanted to click them.

What Is Publishing Content?

Well content can be anything from blog posts to webinars to podcasts to practically anything that is being created and distributed over the internet. People that make video blogs on YouTube are also content creators and we?ve seen a heavy influx on bigger named vloggers advertising for other companies.

The key is to this type of advertising is to engage our customers and spur them to share it with others that they know. How would they share this kind of information? On social media of course!

How Can YOU Be A Publisher?

So now that you a little about the internet world, there are tons of ways to make money as a publisher? you just have to know where to look. First of all, you have to find your niche. Maybe your niche has to do with a hobby of yours or possibly even your lifestyle? A lot of stay-at-home moms have started blogging of their lives. Slowly, they start bringing in an audience due to social media campaigns.

Stay-at-home moms are widely known as popular blogs that make money because they are looking for odds and ends to make money. There are even blogs that focus on work from home positions that list multiple listings which brings in a wide audience. (Such as Wahm.com)

No matter what your blog is about, you have to be able to bring in an audience. As long as the content is good and interesting, you?ll slowly be able to build up your readers.

Affiliate Links

So have you ever gone onto a blog and wondered where all the advertisements are coming from? They are usually affiliates of certain companies that are given an HTML code to put the banner on their blog.

They will receive a commission of the sales from each person that purchases a good the company is providing via the banner. If you have a blog focused around wellness, the ads you?ll usually see are vitamin/supplement ads, diet plan ads, and even gym membership ads.

You can go to the website of a company you want to become an affiliate of and sign up. Or you can also apply to become a publisher on a couple websites that will allow you to see an abundant amount of companies looking to advertise on other blogs. These websites are Linkshare and Commission Junction.

There?s another website that you may know of called Google Adsense. It uses the same rules as an affiliate link but they will generate what ads they use. How do they determine which ads to use? It is based off of what your article is about and key words you use.

Google payout percentage to publishers is not officially stated, but estimates have ranged from 70-80%. This is a substantial sharing percentage, and indicates Google?s commitment to giving maximum exposure to its advertisers.

Although Commission Junction and Linkshare are commission based via sales generated from ad, Google Adsense is pay-per-click. So the more people that click the Adsense ads, the more money you?ll make. You really want to focus your energy on hiring an SEO manager or researching how to increase your audience so your commission increases.

Monetization

There are other ways to make money on your blog with monetization. There are companies like nrelate and mgid. These companies have created a widget you add to your blog so your older blog posts are never lost in the archives.

They circulate the older posts by linking to them from your new articles keeping your readers engaged with the full body of your content. Engaged readers click more, spend more time on your site, and will come back more often. They also have platforms that are available to you that will assist in reaching a bigger audience. These are amazing companies to take advantage of in 2013!
